Ferland Mendy, Dani Carvajal, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Antonio Rüdiger, Dean Huijsen, and Dani Ceballos are set to miss Real Madrid's first match after the international break against Getafe on Monday. Jude Bellingham, who had undergone surgery earlier this year, is expected to get his only second start of the season against eleventh-placed Getafe.
Spanish centre-back Dean Huijsen is nursing a tear in his left calf sustained against Villarreal two weeks ago and his status remains unclear. Initially diagnosed as a strain, the injury now threatens his availability for Madrid's upcoming fixtures, including next week's El Clasico. German international Rüdiger had suffered a thigh injury in training last month. He is also not expected to make a comeback before December.
Fresh recruit Trent Alexander-Arnold is out after suffering a hamstring injury during the UEFA Champions League match against Olympique de Marseille in mid-September. Captain Carvajal will have to sit out for at least two more weeks due to a calf injury that he suffered during the derby defeat to Atletico Madrid last month.
29-year-old midfielder Ceballos is sidelined with a left hamstring knock that he picked up during training. The Spaniard is expected to be fit for the Clasico, although he is certainly not travelling to Getafe. Left-back Mendy has started training with the main squad, Madrid-based media reports said, although he will not be included in the squad for the upcoming fixture.
La Liga heats up ahead of El Clasico
After eight rounds, Real Madrid lead Barcelona by two points. They are in no position to drop any points at the Coliseum Stadium ahead of their arch-rivals' arrival to the Bernabéu.
Barcelona's injury list includes strikers Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres, midfielders Dani Olmo and Gavi Páez and goalkeeper Joan García. However, Lamine Yamal and midfielder Fermín López have both recovered from injuries and could play at least part of Barcelona's La Liga game against Girona on Saturday.
