Smriti Mandhana's 2025 is getting better and better. She had endured a lean run in the first three games of Women's ODI World Cup 2025 but found her mojo during India's crucial encounter against Australia in Vizag on Sunday (October 12).
The southpaw hammered 80 off just 66 balls to set the platform for India to post a mammoth total on what seems like a very good batting surface on a ground with short square dimensions. It was a typically fluent Mandhana innings as she kept increasing her tempo as he faced more deliveries.

Just when a hundred seemed like a certainty, Mandhana holed out to the deep in pursuit of upping the tempo. When facing Australia, teams often need to get that cushion of 20-30 runs more than the par score and that demands more intent. Mandhana, therefore, realised that the onu is on her to keep going and it ultimately gave Australia the breakthrough they were desperately looking for.
Nevertheless, it was a superb knock from Mandhana and during her maiden fifty of the tournament, the India vice-captain also managed to set new records in international cricket.
First batter to score 1000-plus women's ODI runs in a calendar year
When on 18, Mandhana got past 1000 Women's ODI runs in 2025, making her the first batter to achieve this milesstone in the history of the game.
Fastest to 5000 runs in Women's ODIs
Mandhana got past 5000 runs and this made her the fastest to the milestone on two major parameters. Firstly, she did it in just 112 innings, breaking Stafanie Taylor (129 innings) to the landmark. The southpaw also faced just 5569 deliveries to get there, overtaking Suzie Bates (6182 balls).
Youngest to 5000 runs in Women's ODIs
At the age of 29, Mandhana is the youngest player to get to 5000 runs in Women's ODIs.
