English media outlets report that Chelsea are on the verge of signing Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho. After weeks of speculation and uncertainties, the 21-year-old Argentine is closer to joining the London club than spending another season at Old Trafford, reports said.
Once a prized asset at Manchester United, Garnacho has not played a single minute this season. He had a fallout with Ruben Amorim, which further necessitated a move away from Manchester for the youngster. According to the latest reports, Chelsea will spend £40 million (€47.2 million) for Garnacho and complete the transfer ahead of the September 1 deadline.

Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku are reportedly on their way out of Stamford Bridge in the light of the speculated arrival of Garnacho and Xavi Simons. While Jackson is headed to Bayern Munich, Nkunku is said to have agreed a deal with AC Milan.

An academy product, Garnacho's senior career at Manchester United began in April 2022. Across all competitions, he has made 144 senior appearances, tallying 26 goals and 22 assists. In the Premier League alone, he has 93 appearances, with 16 goals and 10 assists. He is known for his explosive pace, impressive dribbling skills, and a penchant for scoring spectacular goals, including the FIFA Puskas Award-winning bicycle kick against Everton and the winning goal in the 2024 FA Cup Final against Manchester City.
It was earlier reported that Garnacho has had only one team in his mind for a transfer - Chelsea. There was an offer from Bayern Munich but his strong stand for the Blues meant that he turned down the offer to join Bundesliga. Chelsea have also had the Argentine winger on their radar, but with priority deals in their plans, this had to wait.
