EPL Transfer news: Manchester City's Jack Grealish agrees for loan deal to Everton

Manchester City's Jack Grealish is all set for a loan deal to Everton in the 2025-26 English Premier League season. The 29-year-old endured a horrific 2024-25 domestic season with just a solitary goal and a single assist in the Premier League from 20 appearances. It was also a season where Manchester City had an unusually inconsistent campaign, although they still finished third on the points table eventually.

However, Pep Guardiola's side had an inexplicable barren run in the middle stages of the season and that inevitable cost them what would have been a fifth straight EPL title. Grealish, however, has had a lean patch that has been on since he joined City from Aston Villa in 2021. There have been glimpses of his potential and his pace in the wings coupled with his ability to dribble past defenders made him an enviable talent to have in the XI. That, though, barely translated to consistent results for Grealish and this loan deal has come at a timely moment for him. The final nail, it is understood, came when Guardiola axed the Englishman from the Club World Cup squad recently. Grealish has also not been part of England's squad since 2024 when Gareth Southgate was at the helm. While there has been a manager change in Thomas Tuchel, Grealish continues to be overlooked.

Given his big price and weekly wages, City are unlikely to get a direct sale for him that can be termed as a successful deal. Meanwhile, Grealish is also expected to be on the sidelines of the City squad with the new signings that have come. Therefore, a loan deal comes as a win-win situation for club and player. According to football analyst Fabrizio Romano, Grealish was satisfied with David Moyes's project at Everton and the 29-year-old will undertake his medical tests on Monday (August 11) with the whole process expected to be completed a day after.
