It is officially a fresh start for Prithvi Shaw as he hopes to reignite his dipping cricketing career with a new lease of life. The 25-year-old has officially linked up with the Maharashtra squad ahead of the 2025-26 domestic season that kicks-off in October. The Mahasashtra Cricket Association posted a picture of president Rohit Pawar felicitating Shaw with the latter's new jersey.
"We are delighted to welcome Prithvi Shaw, India international cricketer and U-19 World Cup-winning captain, to the Maharashtra Cricket Association. His experience and energy will be a valuable addition to our vision for excellence." said the Board in its official statement.

Pawar heaped praises on Shaw's talent and impactful history, and backed the opener to turn a new leaf over in his career. The president is confident that Shaw's hunger for resurgence would be the tonic that Maharashtra needs as they hope to surge forward in their domestic ambitions across all three formats.
A product of Mumbai's cricketing culture, Shaw ended his ties with his parent side, at least temporarily, after the 2024-25 season where he was dropped from the List A squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy on fitness grounds. Shaw's retaliation to the move on social media further sparked debates amongst the pundits and fans alike. It was certain then that the youngster would have to make a shift if he were to pursue his cricketing ambitions.
In June 2025, Shaw sought a no-objection certificate from the Mumbai Cricket Association, citing his ambitions of leaving the team in pursuit of a new one. Despite the controversies of the previous season, the matter was settled amicably with both parties giving out statements that showcased mutual respect for each other. MCA acknowledged Shaw's impactful contributions across all formats while the opening batter also credited the team and cricketing culture for shaping his game.
"At this stage of my career, I believe joining the Maharashtra team will help me grow further as a cricketer," Shaw said in a statement. "I am deeply grateful to the Mumbai Cricket Association for the opportunities and support I have received over the years."
