Kerala Blasters' new head coach David Catala said he will not take the AIFF Super Cup lightly and will try to live up to the expectations of the fans. He is going to be a tough coach but will try to live up to the challenges before the club, Catala said during a press meet on Thursday. "I want to be very aggressive in attack and be very protagonist with the ball. But the most important things is the commitment and sacrifice of the players,” he said.

The Spaniard, who joined KBFC on a one-year deal, took over from interim head coach TG Purushothamman. From bracing for a new challenge in the ISL with the trophyless Kerala Blasters to transfer strategy, here are five things the 44-year-old revealed:

1. I have big ideas and I have a big impression about the team, about the club. I can say from my side I'm gonna give my best to bring this club to where it deserves to be. For me, it's gonna be a big opportunity and a big challenge. But I will take it as a big responsibility and will show the best professionalism.

2. For me, the challenge is the same with every team I have been a part of. I will do my best to try to develop the team and get the best performance out of all the players. I'm going to be very hard because I'm going to be very ambitious. And the challenge for me is the same.

3. Yes, it's true that I came in at a period when the season is almost finished. But we have in front one Super Cup that we are going to face it with the utmost professionalism. Of course, for me, it's different to come in the beginning of the season and coming now. But as I said, I'm looking forward to training with the players, I'm looking forward to competing with these players and to try to make a good Super Cup campaign.

4. Of course, we need to build a new team and new players. Now is a good time also for coming to have an idea of what we need for the future... How can we organise everything to have a good team for the next season...

5. To be honest I was very impressed [with KBFC and Kochi] because I realised on the first day, when I landed in the airport, what it means to be here in the team... I understood about the fans, the magnitude of the [club's] supporters... what it means for all of them, this club and this team. So the responsibility also is there. But I'm very pleased to be here. I'm very happy to be here.
