Saudi Arabia has offered to make Barcelona superstar Pedri an ambassador for the FIFA 2034 World Cup if he agrees to make a switch to the Saudi Pro League, a report said. Spaniard Pedri, who has verbally agreed to remain in Barcelona at least until 2030, is likely to receive an offer beyond his wildest dreams if he is willing to relocate to the desert nation, the report added.
FIFA recently confirmed Saudi Arabia will host the 2034 edition of the FIFA World Cup. While Pedri's current Barcelona contract runs out in 2026, the 22-year-old midfielder's decision to further extend his stay at Camp Nou may create some hurdles before Saudi's elaborate plans. In that scenario, Saudi officials would likely have to meet Pedri's huge €1 billion release clause in order to make the transfer possible.
Saudi is expected to keep pushing until Pedri inks a new deal with the Catalan giants, the report added.
Héctor Peris, CEO of Pedri's agency LEADERBROCk Sports Group, was in Saudi when Barca played Real in the Super Cup. The Saudi authorities made most of the opportunity and conveyed their intentions to Peris, SPORT said in a report.
