Once an Indian Super League (ISL) powerhouse, Chennaiyin FC was struggling to make it to the playoffs until last season. Under the experienced guidance of gaffer Owen Coyle, the Marina Machans managed to break the jinx and qualify for the playoffs, but couldn't progress further.
The two-time winners look to return to the glory days and key foriegn players Connor Shields and captain Ryan Christopher Edwards deciding to extend their stay have put them on the front foot.
CFC will begin their ISL league campaign against Odisha FC in Bhubaneshwar before welcoming newly-promoted Mohammedan SC to Chennai.
