Confirming rumours surrounding talismanic captain Adrian Luna's fitness, Kerala Blasters FC on Saturday confirmed the Uruguayan underwent surgery for a "chondral knee injury."
According to the statement, Adrian Luna has begun his rehabilitation. However, there was no info on when the midfielder will be able to make a comeback to the field.
"The Club would like to update that, Adrian Luna successfully underwent a minor arthroscopic surgery for the treatment of a chondral knee injury after which he is currently in the process of rest and recovery towards full fitness," the KBFC statement said.
"In collaboration with a team of medical experts, the Kerala Blasters medical staff will closely monitor Adrian Luna’s rehabilitation, to ensure a seamless and complete recovery back onto the field of play," it added.
Speculations were rife on social media after Kerala Blasters took on Punjab FC sans their captain in Delhi on Thursday. Some claimed that Luna suffered an injury of serious nature during a training session ahead of the match at the national capital and will have to sit out for the remainder of the season.
"As a beloved member of the Blasters family, we wish Adrian Luna a swift recovery from this setback and hope to see him soon back in action leading the team," the statement concluded sans dropping any clue about how long the rehab period would be.
