The FIA has announced that all personnel involved in Formula One races will have to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 ahead of the 2022 season.
There will be no exemption and will apply to all members of the racing teams in the paddock as well as the drivers themselves.
This will also extend to all members of media attending races, as well as guests and hospitality workers.
In the current roster of drivers, all of them are double vaccinated, so the new mandate is unlikely to face any resistance from them.
"F1 will require all traveling personnel to be fully vaxxed and will not request exemptions," the FIA spokesperson said.
Further, the teams will all have to strictly abide by the Covid-19 rules and restrictions of the countries they travel to.
F1 was one of the first major sports to restart after the first wave of Covid-19 in 2020. Stringent restrictions and tightly maintained bio-bubbles have prevented any massive outbreaks as hundreds of personnel are involved in every race.
The 2022 F1 season is expected to start on March 20 in Bahrain and the caravan will travel to 23 countries across continents until November. Max Verstappen is the defending champion.
