Former India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has been hospitalised, just a week after he tested positive for the coronavirus, as a precautionary measure as advised by his doctors.
The batting great took to social media on Friday to confirm the news. He also wished his teammates and fans on the 10 anniversary of India’s second World Cup win.
“Thank you for your wishes and prayers. As a matter of abundant precaution under medical advice, I have been hospitalized. I hope to be back home in a few days. Take care and stay safe everyone. Wishing all Indians & my teammates on the 10th anniversary of our World Cup win,” Tendulkar tweeted.

The Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Indian side lifted the ICC World Cup trophy on April 2, 2011 after defeating Sri Lanka by sic wickets in the final at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Tendulkar tested positive for COVID-19 on March 27 after developing mild symptoms following which he was under home quarantine. He had further said that others at home had tested negative and he was following all health protocols.
Apart from Tendulkar, some of his teammates from India Legends, who recently lifted the Road Safety World Series title, also tested positive for the virus. Four members of the India Legends squad, including Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan and S. Badrinath confirmed that they had tested positive for COVID-19 just days after the tournament.
