Irfan Pathan fourth player from India Legends squad to test COVID-19 positive

Sachin Tendulkar, Yusuf Pathan and S. Badrinath from the squad also tested positive

Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan on Monday tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently in self-isolation at his home. He is symptomatic.  

“I have tested positive for COVID-19 with no symptoms and have isolated myself and quarantined at home,” Irfan tweeted a note.

“I would request those who came in contact with me in recent past to please get themselves tested,” he further said, urging everyone to wear masks and maintain social distance.

The all-rounder was part of the India Legends team which won the Road Safety World Series recently. He is the fourth player from the India Legends squad after Sachin Tendulkar, Yusuf Pathan and S. Badrinath tested positive for the virus.

His elder brother Yusuf and Tendulkar confirmed on Saturday that they their test results returned positive.

“I have been testing myself and taking all the recommended precautions to ensure Covid is kept at bay. However, I’ve tested positive today following mild symptoms,” read a statement from Tendulkar on Twitter.

Yusuf also tweeted that he was in quarantine at home and taking “necessary precautions and medication”.

“I’ve tested positive for COVID-19 today with mild symptoms. Post the confirmation, I have quarantined myself at home and taking all the necessary precautions and medication required. I would request those who came in contact with me to get themselves tested at the earliest,” Yusuf tweeted.

He also wished Tendulkar a speedy recovery.

“Wishing you a speedy recovery. Take care @sachin_rt Paji. Hope you hit the virus out of the park just like your upper cut,” he tweeted.
