Pakistan cricketer Shaheen Shah Afridi is set to get engaged to the daughter of former captain Shahid Afridi, as per reports. Pakistani media have reported that the veteran cricketer’s eldest daughter Aqsa Afridi will get engaged to the 20-year-old pacer after his family sent the proposal which was accepted by Shahid Afridi’s family.
Aqsa (20) is the eldest of five girls, namely Ansha, Ajwa, Asmara and Arwa.
Though the engagement has not been formally announced, Shaheen’s father Ayaz Khan has confirmed, as per Geo TV, that both families are happy with the proposal and a date for the ceremony will be revealed soon.
It further said that the proposal had been in discussion for the last two years.
A Pakistani journalist, Ihtisham ul Haq, clarified on Twitter that the wedding will happen only after Aqsa completes her studies.
Speculation was rife on social media about the betrothal of the left-arm fast bowler. He made his debut for the Pakistan national side in the One Day International against Afghanistan in 2018. He made his debut in the Test format in the same year against New Zealand. He has represented Pakistan in 15 Tests, 22 ODIs, and 21 T20Is so far.
Both Shaheen and Shahid recently played in the Pakistan Super League which was postponed indefinitely earlier this week following rising cases of COVID-19. Shaheen was playing for Lahore Qalandars while Shahid played for Multan Sultans.
