Adelaide Test: Pacers blow India away for 36, side's lowest score

India's previous lowest Test score was 42, recorded against England in 1974

India's batting line-up collapsed in a heap on the third day of the Adelaide Test against Australia, recording the side's lowest Test score ever.

India was reduced to 36 for 9 when Mohammed Shami retired hurt after being hit by Pat Cummins on the forearm. India's previous lowest Test score was 42, recorded against England in 1974.

India have left a target for 90 for Australia to win.

Fast bowlers Pat Cummins (4 for 21) and Josh Hazlewood (5 for 8) ran through the Indian batting line-up.

India started day 3 of the Adelaide Test at 13 for 1, after earning a lead of 53 runs. However, none of India's batsmen crossed double figures. In the 1974 match against England, Eknath Solkar made 18. Mayank Agarwal top scored for India with 9 in the second innings.

Skipper Virat Kohli, who top-scored in the first innings, fell for 4, while Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane both fell for a duck.
