Prithvi Shaw is evidently going through a rough patch and fans are not going to let him forget it. The Indian opener was trolled on social media for the second straight day after he dropped Marnus Labuschagne on 21. The Australian batsman added another 26 runs to the scoreboard before being dismissed by Umesh Yadav.
Earlier, on day 1, Shaw had opened India’s innings with Mayank Agarwal. However, the 21-year-old was cheaply dismissed for a duck in the second ball of the first over, as fans once again questioned why he was chosen over in-form Shubman Gill in the first Test in Adelaide.
Shaw’s technique and form were the hot topic of debate on Twitter on day 1. The dropped catch did nothing in favour of the youngster. Labuschagne hit a delivery from Jasprit Bumrah in the 21st over up in the air that could have been easily caught. Shaw, who was at mid-wicket, failed to hold on as the ball bounced off his hands.
Rubbing salt into the wounds, trolls targeted the youngster again when he scored just four runs in India’s second innings and got bowled by Pat Cummins.
