India opener Shikhar Dhawan has revealed that his favourite captain is Mahendra Singh Dhoni during a rapid-fire round on an Instagram Live session with former India pacer Irfan Pathan. He picked fellow opener Rohit Sharma as his best batting partner.

“I have only played under Virat and Dhoni. So, as of now, Dhoni bhai,” Dhawan said when asked who his favourite captain is. He added that skipper Virat Kohli is the “best current Indian batsman”.

In answer to Pathan’s question on the toughest bowler he has faced, Dhawan said it would be Australia’s Mitchell Starc.

While picking Rohit as the best batting partner, Dhawan showered praises on the India vice-captain for his performance during the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup. Rohit is the first cricketer to score five centuries in a single edition of the World Cup.

Dhawan also said that the Indian Premier League should be held as it would be a welcome change from all the coronavirus-related news. He added the IPL would bring positivity amid the atmosphere of fear over the virus.

“Of course, IPL should take place because people will get positivity from it. Currently, there is only coronavirus news and fear because of it,” he said.

The 2020 IPL was scheduled to begin on March 29, but with the outbreak of the coronavirus, the Board of Control for Cricket postponed the tournament indefinitely. All global sporting activity have come to a grinding halt amid the pandemic.

Over four million have been infected by the deadly virus worldwide, with nearly 300,000 deaths.
