The International Cricket Council took a dig at former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar after the pacer tweeted that he could dismiss Australia’s hard-hitter Steve Smith on the fourth delivery after three “hurting bouncers” in response to a tweet by ESPNcricinfo.

“Even today, 3 hurting bouncers and i can dismiss @stevesmith49 on the 4th ball. Lol,” Akhtar tweeted on Monday.

ESPNcricinfo had earlier tweeted an image with 20 players, asking fans to pick only one contest to watch between a bowler and batsman. Akhtar was paired with Smith.

However, the ICC responded to Akhtar’s tweet on Tuesday with a series of images featuring basketball legend Michael Jordan laughing at the Pakistan pacer’s tweet.

Fans and followers replied to the ICC’s tweet with some posting images and videos of Akhtar being hit for fours and sixes during his playing days, and others rebuking the cricket body trolling the cricketer.

Akhtar has been active on social media and his YouTube channel, sharing his commentary on cricket at the domestic and international level. Many sportspersons have taken to social media to share their views and routines during the lockdown imposed to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
