Tottenham Hotspur issued a warning to players and manager Jose Mourinho for flouting social distancing rules imposed during the lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic after videos and pictures of the team in training emerged on social media.

As per reports, Mourinho was pictured training with Tanguy Ndombele on Monken Hadley Common in north London, while Davinson Sanchez and Ryan Sessegnon were seen running together in the same park. Serge Aurier also posted a video of himself jogging alongside another person on Instagram.

“All of our players have been reminded to respect social distancing when exercising outdoors,” said a Tottenham spokesperson. “We shall continue to reinforce this message.”

People have been reminded of the need to maintain social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic that has brought the world to a standstill. The British government, especially, has introduced strict measures to maintain social distancing.

Many sporting events across the world have been either cancelled or postponed in the wake of the pandemic.

The English Premier League, among other European football leagues, has been suspended until further notice due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 has surpassed 1.4 million, and over 82,000 people have died from the deadly virus. The United Kingdom has reported over 55,000 positive cases, with over 6,000 deaths.
