With most of the world in lockdown because of the COVID-19 pandemic, social media is brimming with unique 'challenges' that can be done at home. Celebrities are leading the way, as they engage with their fans in the absence of outdoor activities.

Footballers, for instance, recently entertained their fans with the #ToiletPaperChallenge or the #StayAtHomeChallenge. From Lionel Messi, Thierry Henry, Gary Neville to Xavi and Petr Cech, several stars took the challenge, much to the delight of their legion of fans.

But, staying at home for these footballers brings in a challenge of a different kind – to keep fighting fit during the absence of sporting activities. But Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the game's best strikers and, arguably, one of the fittest footballers around, has the answer – 'core crusher challenge'.

The 35-year-old Juventus star took up the challenge as part of Nike's Living Room Cup initiative, and he did the toe touch-style ab exercise, recording 142 repetitions in just 45 seconds.

He took to Instagram to post the video and urged everybody to give it a try. “Hey guys, I have a new challenge for you to stay active: the Living Room Cup. Can you step up and beat my core crusher record? Show me what you got and use #livingroomcup #playinside @nike @cristiano so I can see you!”

Several footballing stars like Vinicius Junior, Blaise Matuidi, Ansu Fati, Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes gave it a go, but none of them could beat the Portuguese legend – a testimony to his fitness levels and core strength.
