Australian openers made an impressive and explosive start to the final of the Women’s T20 World Cup on Sunday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground as India were set a target of 185 to win the title.

Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney hit fifties to guide Australia to a solid total of 184/4 in 20 overs as India struggled to rein in the flow of runs. Healy hit 75 off 39 balls, including seven fours and five sixes. Mooney remained unbeaten on 78.

Deepti Sharma took the crucial wicket of captain Meg Lanning and also Ashleigh Gardner in the same wicket. Poonam Yadav and Radha Yadav took one wicket each while Shikha Pandey failed to make an impact.
