Ravichandran Ashwin has overtaken Australian legend Dennis Lillee and Sri Lankan veteran Chaminda Vaas to go past 355 wickets when he scalped South Africa captain's wicket Faf du Plessis in the second Test in Pune on Sunday.

Ashwin, who matched Sri Lankan great Muttiah Muralitharan's feat to become the fastest to take 350 wickets in the first Test against the Proteas in Visakhapatnam, is now placed in the 23rd position in the list of all-time highest wicket-takers in Test cricket.

Lillee took 355 wickets from 70 Test matches while Vaas reached the milestone in 111 matches. Ashwin reached the same in just 66 matches.
