Goa swimming coach Surajit Ganguly was sacked following allegations of molesting a 15-year-old swimmer. Ganguly was hired by the Goa Swimming Association (GSA) two and a half years ago for their Mapusa facility.

Minister of State of Youth Affairs & Sports Kiren Rijiju condemned the incident and said that strict action would be taken against Ganguly. A video grab was shared with Rijiju by filmmaker Vinod Kapri calling for immediate attention.

In a Twitter post, Rijiju said, “I've taken a strong view of the incident. The Goa Swimming Association has terminated the contract of coach Surajit Ganguly. I'm asking the Swimming Federeation of India to ensure that this coach is not employed anywhere in India. This applies to all Federations & disciplines.”

Rijiju said that stringent action would be taken through the sports authority. “It's a heinous crime of serious nature so I'll urge the Police to take stringent penal action against the coach urgently”, he tweeted on Wednesday.

The GSA confirmed that Ganguly's contract was terminated. GSA secretary Syed Abdul Majid said they terminated Ganugly's contract immediately after watching the video.
