Marcus Rashford's stoppage time penalty following a VAR intervention saw Manchester United stun Paris St Germain 3-1 and enter the quarterfinals of the Champions League on Wednesday at the Parc de Princes.

United, who were ahead of PSG by one goal, would have crashed out of the competition if not for the the Video Assistant Referee awarding the penalty for a handball by Presnel Kimpembe leading to Rashford's kick finding the net.

Machester United were through to the quarterfinals of the Champions League despite losing 2-0 at home. This is the first time in European Cup history that a team has progressed in a knockout tie after a first-leg defeat.

United were plagued by injuries, but managed to put themselves ahead in the first half when Romelu Lukaku scored in the 2nd and 30th minute. Juan Bernat soon equalised for the hosts in the 12th minute to keep things alive for the French team.

PSG would have advanced to the quarterfinals 3-2 on aggregate if it hadn't been for the VAR awarding the penalty for the Kimpembe handball. PSG players were left in disbelief as United celebrated their win and entering the last eight of the competition.
