Three people, all belonging to the same family, were shot dead in a gym on Subhash Road in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr. The victims were rushed to a hospital only after the police arrived at the spot, and all of them were declared brought dead by doctors, a news report said.
According to media reports, a rivalry existed between two groups of bodybuilders who used to work out at the gym. Area dominance and local bodybuilding competitions are said to be the causes over which the enmity developed.
On Saturday night, one of the two groups was celebrating the birthday of one of their members called Jeetu. An argument erupted between the two rival groups at the same time over the smearing of the birthday cake on Jeetu's face, The Indian Express said in a report. It was not clear if it was one of the three victims who smeared the cake on his face.

As the argument escalated, Jeetu drew a gun and fired—hitting all three victims in the head, The Indian Express said. Occupants of the gymnasium scrambled in the mayhem that followed, and the police were notified shortly after.
The police team that arrived to probe the shooting found the three men reportedly lying in a pool of blood. They were identified as Amar Saini (26), Manish Saini (23), and Akash Saini (22).
Four people have been detained in connection with the case, while a case has been lodged against ten people. Bulandshahr police have formed multiple teams to nab the remaining accused who are at large.
