India crushed the West Indies by nine wickets in the final One-day International to win the five-match series 3-1, at the Greenfield Stadium.

Batting first after winning the toss, West Indies were all out for 104 in 31.5 overs. Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja was the wrecker-in-chief, picking up 4/34.

Rohit Sharma (63*) and captain Virat Kohli (33*) chased down the paltry target in 14.5 overs. Shikhar Dhawan woes with the bat continued as he was the lone man to be dismissed, for six, by Oshane Thomas who replaced opening batsman Chandrapaul Hemraj in the playing XI.

Thomas took the only Indian wicket to fall—that of Dhawan. The visitors could have had two more wickets at least had Holder, at first slip, held on to an edge by Kohli when the batsman was on four, and if Thomas had not overstepped when Rohit was caught off a no-ball when on 18.

Rohit followed up his 162 in the previous match in Mumbai, with a 56-ball 63 to bring up his 37th ODI half-century.

India's fast bowlers struck early, sending back Kieran Powell and Shai Hope without scoring inside the first two overs. The touring side never recovered from the early jolts with only three batsmen managing to make double figures against a relentless Indian attack. The two sides will next contest a three-match T20 series, starting at Kolkata's Eden Gardens on Sunday.

Earlier, West Indies captain Jason Holder won the toss and opted to bat. Apart from bringing in Thomas, the visitors made another change, with leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo replacing injured off-spinner Ashley Nurse, who was ruled out of the T20I series, too, with a pectoral injury.

West Indies got off to a disastrous start, losing both openers Kieran Powell (0) and Shai Hope (0) within the first two overs. They never recovered from it and kept on losing wickets regularly. Only three batsmen—Holder (25), Marlon Samuels (24) and Rovman Powell (16)—reached double figures.

Apart from Jadeja, pacer Khaleel Ahmed and Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets each.

The three-match T20I series between the two teams begins on November 4.
