India cricket captain Virat Kohli joined other cricket icons such as Sachin Tendulkar and Kapil Dev when his wax statue was unveiled at Madame Tussauds in Connaught Place, New Delhi today.

Visitors and “Viratians” can visit and get photographed along with Kohli, who is sporting the Indian team jersey and seen in his signature batting pose with a cricket stadium in the background. The pose symbolises Kohli's achievements in international cricket.

Kohli's wax figure has been crafted from over 200 measurements and photographs taken during different sessions with him.

“I sincerely appreciate the efforts and incredible work undergone in making my figure. Thanks to Madame Tussauds for choosing me for this lifetime experience. I am grateful to my fans for their love and support.

“This experience is going to be stored in the fond memories of my life...now waiting to see the fan reactions,” Kohli said in a statement issued by Madame Tussauds.

“Virat is today's cricket star and has a huge fan following across the globe. The growing love for him amongst his fans made him obvious choice for Madame Tussauds,” says Anshul Jain, General Manager and Director, Merlin Entertainments India Pvt Ltd. He added that Kohli's wax figure will add a new charm to the sports zone.

Each piece of work that is made at Madame Tussauds, which has been making wax figures for over 150 years, takes about four months and a team of over 20 artists to create.
