Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and elected to bowl first against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final of the Indian Premier League 2018, at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

CSK made one change to the side that defeated SRH by two wickets in the qualifier 1 at the same venue on May 22—Karn Sharma came in for Harbhajan Singh.

Kane Williamson-led SRH made two changes, bringing in Shreevats Goswami for injured wicketkeeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha and replacing Khaleel Ahmed with Sandeep Sharma. SRH had beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 14 runs in the qualifier 2 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on May 25.

While this is CSK's seventh appearance in an IPL final, SRH is playing in a final for the second time.
