Manika Batra won a historic women's singles table tennis gold for India at the Commonwealth Games, defeating Yu Mengyu of Singapore 4-0 in the final.

Earlier today, Batra showed that her crucial victory against world number 4 Feng Tianwei in the team final was no fluke as the Indian edged out the Singaporean 4-3 in the women's singles semifinals.

Besides guiding India to team gold, Batra had also paired up with veteran Mouma Das to win the country's maiden women's double silver in table tennis.

Batra can add a fourth medal to what already has been a dream campaign in the Commonwealth Games so far when the 22-year-old plays the mixed doubles bronze play-off tomorrow.

Meanwhile, in the mixed doubles squash event, Saurav Ghosal and Dipika Pallikal settled for a silver medal, becoming the first Indian pair to achieve the feat in the Commonwealth Games.

The Indians lost 0-2 (8-11 10-11) to home favourites Donna Urquhart and Cameron Pilley in 29 minutes.

Pallikal is also in contention to win a gold medal in women's doubles squash alongside Joshna Chinappa.
