Kerala beat West Bengal 4-2 on penalties to clinch their sixth title in the 72nd Santosh Trophy final at the Vivekananda Yubabharati Krirangan today.

M.S. Jithin drew the first blood for Kerala in the 19th minute as he scored from a through ball by S. Seesan.

V.K. Afdal wasted a golden opportunity to make it 2-0, as he failed to put the ball inside the net, in front of an open post.

Bengal's Manotosh Chaklader also missed a free-header at goal in the 30th minute.

Captain Jiten Murmu scored the lone for West Bengal in the 66th minute.

Rajon Barman was sent off at extra-time after missing a shot and hitting straight at the Kerala custodian.

Vibin Thomas put Kerala ahead in the 116th minute through a header.

Tirthankar Sarkar equalized for Bengal in the 134th minute from a direct free-kick.

Kerala last lifted the trophy way back in 2005 when they beat Punjab 3-2.
