Mizoram pummelled Odisha 5-0 for their second successive win, while Karnataka began their campaign with a 4-1 victory over Goa in the national football championship for the 72nd Santosh Trophy.

Lal Romawia notched up a brace (41st, 59th minutes) to take his tally to four goals from four matches, while Lalbiakhlua (37th), Malsawmdawng (73rd) and F. Lalrinpuia (90+1st) also got on the scoresheet to seal the rout.

With the win, Mizoram, who beat Goa 3-1 in their opening encounter, made it two out of two top the group A table.

Odisha succumbed to their second consecutive loss at the Rabindra Sarovar Stadium.

Meanwhile, six-time champions Goa suffered back-to-back defeats after letting slip a 27th lead. Kapil Hoble scored the goal for Armando Colaco's side.

After the interval, Karnataka scored two goals through Vignesh (54th) and Rajesh S (61st).

Goa made things worse for themselves with a own goal scored by Mathew Gonsalves (69th) to make it 4-0 before Leon Augustine (89th) completed the rout at the Sailan Manna Sports Complex in Howrah Maidan.
