The painful wait continues as the release date for Rockstar Games' most anticipated title, 'Grand Theft Auto VI', has been pushed further.

The release date for GTA 6, which was already pushed to May 26, 2026 from fall 2025—giving fans a great deal of certainty at the time of the announcement—has now been pushed by six months to November 19, 2026.

GTA 6 has already spent more than a decade in the works after the release of 'Grand Theft Auto V', one of the most successful games in the franchise.

"We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realise has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve," Rockstar Games said in a statement.

"While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern-day Vice City," the statement added.

"My therapist will hear about this Rockstar," a Redditor quipped.

"I feel like it gets worse considering the fact that they had 6 months left to develop on the game, but now decide it apperantly needs more polish. Makes you wonder if May 26 was ever gonna be a realistic release date to begin with," another Redditor wrote.

"Look how good we used to have it ... 1 game in 13 years is disgusting," an X user lamented.

The X user also attached a timeline of Rockstar Games' releases till GTA 6.

Trouble at Rockstar North, Take-Two

The delay follows protests outside the UK offices of Rockstar North and parent company Take-Two Interactive, as recently as Thursday.

The Independent Workers' Union of Great Britain (IWGB), a union representing people working in the gaming sector, said that this was because 31 workers were fired from Rockstar's UK offices on October 30.

While Rockstar claimed they were fired for "distributing and discussing confidential information in a public forum, a violation of our company policies", the IWGB claimed that they were fired due to their union involvement, as per a Bloomberg report.

"Management are showing they don't care about delays to GTA 6, and that they're prioritising union busting by targeting the very people who make the game."
