While the social media is going gaga over Google Gemini's Nano Banana AI saree trend, some users are worried about their privacy in the digital space. One of the Instagram users, Jhalak Bhawnani, was in for a shock after she uploaded a photo of herself on the platform.
Bhawnani uploaded an image of herself donning a green salwar suit on Google Gemini to convert the picture into a retro portrait showing her in a saree. She said the AI-generated saree photo was "very attractive" but she was bewildered by one small detail.
She said the Gemini AI photo showed a mole on her left arm. Though she actually has a mole on her left arm, the photo she uploaded did not have a mole. "How did Gemini know that I have a mole on this part of my body," she wondered, saying it was "creepy" and "very scary".
"Be safe. Whatever you are uploading on these AI platforms, please be safe," the woman warned users.
Responding to this, one user offered an explanation. "Well, that is exactly how AI works. AI draws from your digital footprint, from all the images you’ve uploaded online. Your mole is visible in your other pictures," the user said, pointing out that AI is not the real problem but oversharing of personal photos and videos.
Another called it normal, saying that Gemini has access to Google Photos and may have used Bhawnani's old photos for better results.

Google Gemini uses invisible digital watermarks in the Nano Banana feature to identify AI-generated images. Metadata tags embedded in the images also helps track AI-generated content.
Users should refrain from sharing personal media or information on AI platforms. Read the privacy policy of the apps and what measures are taken to protect your data.
