Gamers worldwide can finally get their hands on the Nintendo Switch 2 which was officially launched on June 5, 2025.
The successor of the Switch 1 promises an immersive experience with a 1080p display, and boasts frame rates up to 120fps, as well as a 7.9-inch built-in screen. The release of the Switch 2 also coincides with a new racing game from the 'Mario Kart' franchise, titled 'Mario Kart World'.
Pre-orders in the US quickly saw Switch 2 stocks sell out by April 24. Nintendo is said to be working diligently to fulfill orders, but delivery by June 5 is not guaranteed, owing to high demand.
According to the official website, the console will be available at stores of participating retailers like Walmart, Target, GameStop and Best Buy in the US.
The new consoles were sold through a competitive lottery system that Nintendo said got about 2.2 million applications in Japan alone.
As of June 5 2025, Nintendo Switch 2 has not been released in India, as the company has not established an official distributor in the country yet.
Consumers looking to purchase the Switch 2 can only secure it through third-party channels as of now. A product listed on Flipkart as ‘NINTENDO Switch with Joy-Con - Version 2’ is currently available. However, the authenticity of the product is questionable, when purchased through such channels.
“Product went bad in less than 3 months,” claimed one customer on Amazon India.
Nintendo had announced the prices and launch date earlier in April, which was followed by US President Donald Trump's sweeping tariffs, as a result of which the Switch 2’s launch price in the US is significantly higher.
