The Telangana Education Department is considering to provide Quick Response (QR) codes with lessons to enable students to access online resources from the internet.

"The idea is basically to print a QR code on the textbook and material (for studying) comes as an addition to the textbook, after scanning it," official sources told PTI.

However, the proposal is still in the "formative stages," he said.

QR code, consisting of an array of black and white squares, can be used to get easy access to information through a smartphone. QR codes have already been provided in books used in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.

Union minister Prakash Javadekar had announced that NCERT textbooks would have QR codes from 2019-20 academic year.
