The UAE has launched a fully-integrated AI-powered judicial platform, the first in the world, which is expected to start working in September.
The platform functions cover case analysis, legal research, precedent retrieval and judicial document preparation. However, the judges will retain sole authority over final rulings, thereby maintaining full human oversight.
Aimed at modernising the judicial system by streamlining judicial procedures and accelerating the delivery of legal services, the platform ensures rapid access to UAE legislation and regulations.
The development was announced by UAE Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan on X. “The launch of the world's first fully integrated AI-powered judicial platform reflects our belief that innovation is the path to a more efficient and faster justice system, while reinforcing the UAE's position as a global model in advancing government and judicial services,” Sheikh Mansour said, Gulf News reported.
The step will help raise consistency across judicial procedures by shortening the litigation timelines. It will also help in faster processing of large document volumes,
Last year, the UAE Public Prosecution launched the Bayan Smart Translation Centre, a pilot project to develop a specialised legal language system for judicial translation. Bayan identifies speakers through voice recognition during investigations. Technology converts speech into text, processes multilingual translation and prepares bilingual investigation records within minutes.
With massive infrastructure investments and government strategies, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is considered a global hub for artificial intelligence.
