A 40-year-old Indian caregiver was found dead in an apartment in Israel, which police say is a murder. The person, who is yet to be identified, was found lying in a pool of blood in an apartment in the Katamon neighbourhood of Jerusalem.

Police told reporters that the initial findings at the scene indicate that the incident was criminal in nature. A 31-year-old suspect, a resident of Eilat, was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the murder. He was taken in for questioning.

The victim was found lifeless in the apartment of the couple he was caring for.

"When we arrived, we joined the police forces who were on the scene. They led us to a 40-year-old man who was lying unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing, with an injury to his body. We performed medical examinations and were forced to declare him dead,” Ynet quoted paramedics. “The investigation of the scene raised suspicions that the background was a criminal incident, and within a short time the police closed the circle and arrested the suspect who was transferred for questioning,” a senior police official said.

It is unknown whether the victim and the suspect knew each other beforehand.
