As Middle East tensions escalate following the outbreak of conflict in Iran, global flight operations have faced renewed disruption. On Saturday, unconfirmed reports emerged of an explosion and plumes of smoke near Dubai International Airport. 

While witnesses reported seeing smoke in the vicinity, official sources have yet to confirm the cause of the incident or the extent of any damage. Reports also said that 'loud bangs' were heard in Abu Dhabi as well. 

Authorities in Dubai confirmed that a 'minor incident' involving falling debris was successfully contained. The officials also dismissed circulating social media claims of any disruption Dubai International Airport.    

Following the incident, airlines have further delayed their ongoing operations. 

Emirates said on Saturday that all its flights to and from Dubai have been suspended until further notice. Later, the airline issued an update on X saying it has resumed flight operations. 

Etihad Airways and Emirates have resumed limited flight operations from Dubai and Abu Dhabi to provide relief for stranded passengers across the Middle East. Many airlines continue to operate repatriation flights this Saturday to assist those affected by the regional tensions.
