With the whereabouts of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei still a mystery, there have been unconfirmed reports that he is dead.

The rumours began after report by Israel's Channel 12 television claimed that there are "growing signs" that Khamenei may have been killed. However, Iran has dismissed these reports.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told NBC News that "as far as I know" Ali Khamenei is still alive. The foreign minister's statement has further sparked concerns about Khamenei's condition.
