Dubai has announced a major leadership reshuffle at one of its flagship global enterprises, with Essa Kazim appointed as the new chairman of DP World. Indian-origin financial expert Yuvraj Narayan, currently Deputy CEO, has been elevated as the company’s new chief executive officer.

Kazim currently serves as the governor of the Dubai International Financial Centre and chairman of Borse Dubai, the holding company of DIFC. With decades of leadership experience across key government institutions in the UAE, Kazim now takes the helm of DP World, one of the world’s largest port operators. He succeeds Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, who previously chaired the global logistics giant.

Yuvraj Narayan has been associated with DP World since 2004. A specialist in financial management, corporate finance, supply chains and global trade, he was appointed chief financial officer in 2005 and has since played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s global expansion strategy.

In a related development, UAE Vice President and Ruler of Dubai Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum issued a decree appointing Abdulla Bin Damithan as Chairman of Dubai Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation. Bin Damithan, who joined DP World in 2001, previously oversaw the company’s operations across the GCC region.
