US President Donald Trump issued a renewed warning to Iran on Tuesday, urging the country to pursue a deal while highlighting the ongoing buildup of US military forces in the region.
Trump's latest threat came in response to Iran's announcement of military drills near the Strait of Hormuz, amid ongoing tensions over the government's crackdown on anti-government protests.
"By the way, there's another beautiful armada floating toward Iran right now. So we'll see. I hope they make a deal. I hope they make a deal. They should have made a deal the first time. They'd have a country," Trump said during a campaign-style event in Clive.

Trump's announcement of the deployment of a second armada came a day after the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier and accompanying warships arrived in the Middle East on Monday.
Trump has consistently threatened military intervention if Iran continues its violent crackdown on protesters. According to an Axios report, the President nearly ordered a strike on regime targets earlier this month but eventually postponed the decision.

Trump stated that he had been informed that the killings in Iran were subsiding and that he was aware of no immediate plans for executions of prisoners.
Nevertheless, Washington continues to reposition military assets in the region. Last week, Trump remarked, "We have a big armada next to Iran. Bigger than Venezuela."
However, he also noted that Iranian officials have expressed a willingness to engage in talks. "They want to make a deal. I know so. They've called on numerous occasions. They want to talk," he added."
