Indian actress Rashmika Mandanna on Thursday firmly responded to an alleged audio clip of a private conversation between her mother, Suman, and another person, going viral on social media.

The audio clip from about eight years ago, which Rashmika has claimed was "taken out of context", is said to involve Suman talking with an unidentified person about the actress' 2017 engagement to actor Rakshit Shetty.

The pan-Indian actress got engaged to her Kirik Party co-star in an intimate ceremony on July 03, 2017, before calling off their engagement the following year over what they said were compatibility issues.

The old conversation allegedly began going viral at around the time of Rashmika's highly anticipated wedding to actor Vijay Devarakonda in a private ceremony on February 26, with a grand, star-studded reception on March 4.

"For eight years, while the attacks were restricted to me, I chose silence. Today, while others are being drawn into this, I cannot stay silent any longer. I choose to draw a boundary," she said in a statement on X.

She also pointed out that the viral conversation had been part of a larger one, and had been "deliberately taken out of context" to create a controversy and interfere with "recent developments" in her life.

The 29-year-old actress has now issued an ultimatum to all those involved in circulating the clip and "related narratives" to remove them within 24 hours.

"Failing this, starting tomorrow, appropriate legal action will be initiated—including the issuance of legal notices to individuals, influencers, digital platforms, or media organisations involved in the continued circulation of defamatory or privacy-violating content, in accordance with applicable law," she warned in her statement.

"Do they get to decide what my llife should be like?" she questioned.
