The United Arab Emirates has agreed to join the Gaza Peace Committee proposed by US President Donald Trump, highlighting Abu Dhabi’s expanding diplomatic engagement in regional peace efforts. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has accepted Washington’s invitation to become a member of the Board of Peace.

The UAE’s participation underscores the importance it attaches to President Trump’s proposed 20-point peace plan for Gaza and its commitment to ensuring the initiative’s success. Officials said the plan is viewed as a key framework for safeguarding Palestinian rights while laying the groundwork for lasting peace and stability in the region.

As part of its role, the UAE has appointed Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem Al Hashimy to the Gaza Executive Board. The board has been established to coordinate between Gaza’s national administrative committee and President Trump’s peace committee, ensuring effective governance and implementation.

The peace committee has been tasked with overseeing Gaza’s reconstruction and supporting efforts to restore peace. It also seeks to strengthen international cooperation and mobilise resources for recovery. The United States has stated that the initiative will ensure Gaza’s reconstruction while also addressing the disarmament of Hamas, positioning the committee as a central pillar of the proposed peace process.
