US President Donald Trump has invited India to join the Gaza Board of Peace to oversee the second phase of his 20-point peace plan aimed at ending the Gaza conflict.
Trump sent a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 16 regarding the invitation. However, New Delhi has not yet issued an official response.
“It is my Great Honor to invite you, as Prime Minister of the Republic of India, to join me in a critically Historic and Magnificent effort to solidify Peace in the Middle East and, at the same time, to embark on a bold new approach to resolving Global Conflict!," Trump said in the letter which was shared on by US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor.

India has maintained strong ties with both Israel and Palestine. While fostering a strategic partnership with Israel, New Delhi was among the first to send humanitarian aid to Gaza in response to the recent conflict.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has also revealed that it received an invitation from Trump to join the Gaza Board of Peace. However, Israel has made it clear that it will not accept any involvement from Islamabad in Gaza.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, along with leaders of France, Germany, Australia, and Canada, have also reportedly been invited to join the Gaza Board of Peace.
Trump’s invitation comes as the White House unveiled the list of individuals appointed to the ‘Board of Peace,’ which will oversee governance and reconstruction in the war-torn region. The list includes US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, World Bank President Ajay Banga, and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, among others.
Apollo Global Management CEO Marc Rowan and US Deputy National Security Adviser Robert Gabriel are also part of the board.
According to the White House statement, the executive board members will oversee critical portfolios for Gaza’s stabilization and long-term success, including governance capacity-building, regional relations, reconstruction, investment attraction, large-scale funding, and capital mobilization.
Trump will serve as the chairman of the board, while Aryeh Lightstone and Josh Gruenbaum have been tasked with leading the day-to-day strategy and operations, as well as translating the Board's mandate and diplomatic priorities into disciplined execution.
