Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm welcome on his arrival in Oman for a two-day official visit. He was received at Muscat International Airport by Omani Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, along with other senior officials.
The national anthems of both countries were played at the airport, followed by a ceremonial guard of honour by the armed forces. Later, a special reception was organised by the Indian community at the hotel where the Prime Minister is staying. The welcome featured songs, a variety of Indian classical and folk dances, as well as traditional Omani cultural performances.

The visit coincides with the celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Oman.
