Tehran would fire 2,000 at once to overwhelm Israeli defenses: Report

Iran military build-up suggests the regime is preparing for another war, despite US claims of weakened firepower

Contrary to the US claims that the recent military operations wiped out Iran’s firepower, the Islamic regime is preparing for another war, and it would only be a matter of time before the outbreak of the conflict, according to a report.

With the negotiations dead and Iran’s continued work to enrich the Uranium buried at the  Pickaxe Mountain without the supervision of IAEA inspectors, the result is a dangerous stalemate, according to The New York Times. The report added that many in the Gulf believe another Israeli attack on Iran is inevitable. “Iran is likely to respond to any Israeli attack in a far less restrained way than it did in  June,” Ali Vaez, the Iran project director at the International Crisis Group, told The NYT.

He added that Iranian officials have told him that missile factories were working 24 hours   a day. “If there is another war, they hope to fire 2,000 at once to overwhelm Israeli  defenses, not 500 over 12 days as they did in June,” he added.

Vaez said that there is no evidence that a new attack was imminent. “Israel feels the job is unfinished and sees no reason not to resume the conflict, so Iran is doubling down on preparedness for the next round,” he added.

The NYT also quoted another expert, who claimed that regional powers were working to preserve their relationship with Iran, though Iran has been considerably weakened. Sanam Vakil, the director of the Middle East and North Africa program at Chatham House, believes the countries do not want another regional war. “They respect Iran’s ability, however weakened, to create instability through its own military forces and through proxies in Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen, the Persian Gulf and elsewhere,” she said.

That said, analysts are certain that Israel could strike again, considering the pace at which Iran was rebuilding its nuclear abilities. “Israel wants to ensure that Iran’s nuclear program is contained, and they won’t get it through negotiations, so I suspect the Israelis intend to strike again,” H.A. Hellyer, a senior associate at the Center for American Progress in Washington and at London’s Royal United Services Institute, told The NYT. “The Iranians are rebuilding, but once they are past a certain line, Israel will attack again.”
