Goa's maritime achievements have garnered international acclaim and recognition, this time from Russia. On Wednesday, Aide to the President of Russia and Chairman of the Maritime Board of Russia, Nikolai Patrushev, visited maritime infrastructure facilities in Goa.
Patrushev visited the Mormugao Port, the Goa Shipyard, and the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research. He discussed specific Russia-India cooperation projects with the leadership of the port, the shipbuilding yard, and the research centre, the Russian embassy said in a statement.
"Our countries can jointly build up their own fleets, strengthen cooperation between them, establish robust and sanctions-resistant maritime logistics, and develop marine science and technology," stated Vladimir Putin's presidential aide.
"Russia and India will pay special attention to the creation of scientific schools in the field of fundamental and applied research. Moreover, it is important not only to enhance bilateral cooperation, but also to make active use of multilateral formats, particularly #BRICS. I consider it essential to work together to give this association a full-fledged maritime dimension," added Patrushev.
The Maritime Board of Russia Chairman called for the practical development of cooperation in both military and civilian maritime domains between the nations.
