The very severe cyclonic storm Arnab moved slowly northwestwards and crossed the Andhra Pradesh and Yanam coasts between Bapatla and Visakhapatnam, to the southwest of Yanam, on Wednesday morning, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. Continuing to move further northwestwards, it weakened into a severe cyclonic storm, it added.
According to the weather department, it is very likely to move north-northwestwards during the next 48 hours and weaken gradually. "It will weaken into a Cyclonic Storm during next 06 hours and further into a Deep Depression during subsequent 06 hours," the IMD said on X at 12:00 PM.
Telangana is under a state-level very heavy rainfall warning for October 28, with expected thunderstorms and lightning in some parts. Hyderabad's city-specific forecast, however, is less severe. The forecast mentions partly cloudy conditions and one or two spells of rain or thundershowers in the capital city on Wednesday, but the city bulletin lists no warning.
Hyderabad residents are likely to experience partly cloudy skies with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers on Thursday, October 29. On Friday, the skies will remain partly cloudy with a possibility of rain, thunderstorms, or dust storms, the IMD said.
No warnings are listed afterwards until Tuesday, November 3.
