Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party, however, continues to lead in three MLC seats including the Varanasi Teachers' constituency.

Results for some of the heavily contested 11 seats in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council (MLC) elections were released on Tuesday, which includes a double win in both Meerut seats for the BJP.

This comes after Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav alleged that the results of various stages of the MLC polls were being either delayed on purpose, or slowed down.

“CEC Gyanesh Kumar should take immediate cognisance of alleged delay in UP MLC vote counting, ensure transparent results,” he had alleged in an X post, later providing a video of BJP leaders allegedly "causing a disturbance" at a counting centre in Lucknow.

In any case, the BJP has so far brought two of the 11 MLC seats under its kitty, alongside leads in four other MLC constituencies as well, with the Samajwadi Party (SP) leading in three poll battles as well.

Meerut also saw the BJP win over the SP twice—Shrichand Agarwal beating Nitin Kumar Tomar for the Teachers' seat, and Dinesh Goyal defeating Pramod Bhati for the Graduates' seat.

Gorakhpur, which is Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's constituency, saw the BJP lead with Dhruv Kumar Tripathi for the Gorakhpur-Faizabad Teachers' seat, where the SP's Sanjayan Tripathi is trailing, and independent Rajiv Yadav comes in third.

However, PM Narendra Modi's constituency of Varanasi sees the SP's Lal Bihari ahead for the Teachers' seat and the BJP's Pramod Mishra trailing behind. No trends for the Graduates' seat here have come out.

Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party was also leading over the BJP in two other places: Akash Agarwal is leading the Agra Teachers' poll battle against the BJP's Harikishore Tiwari, while Man Singh is ahead of the BJP's Ashok Kumar Rathore in Jhansi Graduates' poll race in Jhansi.

However, Rathore later overtook the SP's Man Singh in the Jhansi Graduates' seat poll battle, cutting the party's three-seat lead to just two, as per local media reports.

For the Bareilly-Moradabad Teachers' seat, Dr. Hari Singh Dhillon has taken the lead over SP candidate Haji Danish Akhtar. Trends are also pending for the Lucknow and Agra Graduates' seats.

As many as 152 candidates are in the fray for the 11 Uttar Pradesh MLC seats, for which the counting of votes began on Tuesday morning at 8 AM, after seven others withdrew from the competition by Friday.
