The convicts of the 2025 snakebite-like murder of Amit "Mikky" Kashyap have become the latest to face the death penalty a day after the Meerut couple behind the 'blue drum' murder faced the same sentence.

A Meerut court on Friday sentenced a woman and her lover for the murder of her husband, Amit "Mikky" Kashyap, by staging it like a snakebite.

This comes after the court of Additional District Judge-12 on October 7 convicted Ravita and her neighbour, Amardeep, of murder and criminal conspiracy.

The case dates back to April 12, 2025, when Mikky was found dead at his home in Meerut's Akbarpur Sadat village, at which time it was thought that the snake—found beneath his dead body at the time—had bitten him.

However, injuries on his neck and scratch marks on his body raised suspicions, after which the postmortem report revealed foul play—that he had died due to asphyxia from strangulation.

The probe into the case also revealed that the snake's venom sac had been removed, which led the police to eventually nab Ravita and Amardeep.

Notably, this comes just a day after another Meerut couple, Muskan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla, were handed the death penalty by a Meerut court for the March 2025 murder of her husband Saurabh Rajput.

Famously known as the 'blue drum murder' case—because Saurabh's dead body had been found inside a blue-coloured plastic storage container—it was later revealed that the convicts had drugged the victim before killing him and dumping his body inside a blue drum.

The duo also sent text messages to his family from the victim's phone in order to prevent suspicions arising about his death, before his six-year-old daughter asked about her father, which led to Saurabh's parents filing a case against Muskan and Sahil.

The duo will now have a chance to challenge the Meerut court's verdict ahead of its confirmation in the Uttar Pradesh High Court.
