The Delhi police have secured an Interpol red corner Notice against Russian national Victoria Basu and initiated extradition proceedings through Russian authorities, according to a status report filed before a Delhi court.

Police have also filed an Action Taken Report TR in a matter against a Russian woman married to an Indian man.

In 2025, an FIR was filed at the the Police Station Defence colony based on a complaint made by Saikat Basu. He married Victoria in 2017, and the couple's child was born on December 29 2020.

It is alleged that Viktoria, along with her mother, left the house without informing Saikat and abandoned the child on March 13 2023. She alleged that she then filed a petition seeking exclusive custody of the child.

In 2025, she left India with her minor son despite the Supreme Court mandating a shared custody arrangement,

An earlier status report by the police flagged discrepancies in travel records received from Nepal. Victoria and the children reportedly entered Nepal through Birgunj in July 2011 2025. Investigators, however, suspected they entered the country through a Jungle route with the assistance of Samir Ansari, a co-accused.

The Red Corner Notice was issued to facilitate the international tracking of Basu.

The report also details the investigation into an alleged associate

Police also approached a co-accused, Natasha, who is suspected of helping Viktoria flee India.

Delhi police filed the status reported and said that a formal extradition process was initiated and sent to the MHA for execution by the MEA and the Indian embassy in Moscow to trace the accused.
